Forest Products Exports in 2024 Reach USD 11.896 Billion
At the "Live Event on the Performance of the Forestry Industry in Increasing the Added Value of Processed Forest Products" held on December 17, 2024, the Indonesian Minister of Forestry, represented by the Director General of Sustainable Forest Management of the Ministry of Forestry (Dirjen PHL), Dida Migfar Ridha, announced that the export value of forestry industry products in 2024 had reached USD 11.896 billion. In addition to reporting the export achievements of forest products, the event aimed to enhance understanding of the SVLK system and the variety of processed forest products that can be produced by the forestry industry.
This achievement clearly shows that Indonesia's forestry industry holds significant potential for continued growth. The increase in export value reflects not only the rising global demand for Indonesian forest products but also the industry's ability to adapt to global challenges such as geopolitical tensions and climate change.
However, maintaining this positive momentum requires the government and industry players to continuously strengthen sustainable practices, enhance product innovation, and expand into new markets. With the internationally recognized SVLK system, Indonesia has a great opportunity to become a leader in providing sustainable wood products on the global market.
On the other hand, challenges remain, including the need to increase production capacity and ensure the sustainability of forest resources. Strategic steps such as strengthening regulations, diversifying products, and investing in green technology will be key to maintaining and even improving Indonesia’s position in the global forest product export market.
By focusing on sustainability and innovation, Indonesia’s forestry industry can not only increase its contribution to the national economy but also have a positive impact on the environment and society. This will strengthen Indonesia's commitment to achieving sustainable development goals and solidify its role on the international stage.
